More Men Seek Cosmetic Surgery Treatment

It seems that men and women have yet another thing in common: the desire to improve their appearance with cosmetic surgery. One thing does still differ between the sexes, however, and that is that men have a higher tendency to keep news of their procedures under wraps than women do.

Regardless, according to RealSelf.com, a cosmetic surgery trend report site, 72% of doctors surveyed have seen an increase in male clients during the last year. More than half of the new clientele are between the ages of 24 and 44.

The most popular procedures for men appear to be liposuction, tummy tucks, CoolSculpting, hair transplants, and jawlines fillers. Additionally, dermatologists are being asked to smooth wrinkles and tighten up sagging facial skin with procedures that require little or no downtime.

Men aren't as shy about admitting to improving their smiles with treatments such as Invisalign, perhaps because of the widespread acceptance of orthodontics for both boys and girls during teen and young adult years.

In general, recommendations are similar for men and women: Hire a board-certified surgeon who you feel comfortable working with. Ask for before-and-after photos and discuss all your options for achieving the look you want. One additional factor men should consider is that because of a general difference in skin thickness, men are advised towards moderation, as work is easier to detect on men.

Regardless of your gender, we're always happy to discuss what you can expect from cosmetic surgery. Give us a call and set up an appointment today.
