LASER SKIN RESURFACING

Laser skin resurfacing ranges from superficial treatments to very deep resurfacing. In our practice we utilize the Fraxel re:store resurfacing device, the ExcelCO2 fractional resurfacing device, and the traditional CO2 laser resurfacing device.

Fractional (Fraxel) Skin Resurfacing

Fraxel is a revolutionary laser treatment that helps remove years from your appearance for a more youthful look. The Fraxel re:store can produce significant results in mild or moderately damaged skin over a course of 4 to 6 treatments. Typically, there is no after-treatment, and the downtime is minimal. The Fraxel re:store laser is cleared by the FDA and has undergone extensive testing in the lab and in the field.

With the revolutionary Fraxel re:store™ laser treatment, you can get …

  • Improved skin tone
  • Plumping of acne scars and surgical scars
  • Reduced wrinkles and fine lines
  • Smoother skin texture
  • All in a series of treatments – with minimal downtime or discomfort.

How It Works

With Fraxel re:store treatment, you get dramatic results without going under the knife. Instead, Fraxel re:store laser treatment uses points of light to precisely treat thousands of microscopic areas of your skin. The treatment penetrates deep into the skin to remove old, damaged skin cells, stimulates your body’s own natural healing process, and replaces the cells with fresh, glowing, healthy skin.

Because the technology is so precise, Fraxel re:store treatment works not only on the face, but also on delicate skin areas like the neck, chest and hands.

Fractional CO2 Resurfacing

Fractional CO2 resurfacing is a moderately aggressive approach to skin resurfacing. The laser beam is fractionated into multiple beams with space between them. This allows multiple small cones of damage to the skin with undamaged skin between them. The skin heals much faster from this treatment, 4-5 days, with less redness and swelling. This procedure can be done under only a topical anesthetic. This laser procedure is excellent for improving fine lines and moderate wrinkles as well as removing brown spots. This procedure can be repeated multiple times to correct more severe signs of aging.

Deep CO2 Laser Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is performed with a CO2 laser device. The laser is carefully passed back and forth over the skin until the surgeon reaches the correct level. This type of skin resurfacing is recommended for acne scars and other traumatic and surgical scars. Laser resurfacing cannot totally remove all flaws, but it will make the scars less visible.

Individuals who have taken Accutane in the past 12-18 months or are prone to abnormal scarring may not be appropriate candidates for this type of procedure.
