Devinder S. Mangat, M.D., F.A.C.S. established the Étage Skin Clinics in 1996 in an effort to provide non-invasive skin enhancing treatments for his patients. Developed before medi spas became popular, it was Dr. Mangat's intention to provide preventive skin care as well as a way to reverse early sun damage without resorting to more aggressive procedures.

Étage Skin Renewal System

The Étage Skin Renewal System was developed by Dr. Devinder S. Mangat specifically at the request of his patients. Dr. Mangat was not satisfied with the skin care products that were widely available, particularly for his post-operative patients. Dr. Mangat spent several years formulating a system that would actually improve the skin. The five products he developed include all the components that are necessary for total skin rejuvenation and maintenance. Dr. Mangat's patients have reported their skin "has a glow," "feels smoother," and "looks better than it has in years."

Étage Clarify

Deep cleans without stripping your skin of its important oils. Natural ingredients and anti-oxidant vitamins A, C and E help to heal and condition your skin.

Physician Strength Chemical Peels

Étage Skin Clinics offer a variety of peels to suit each individual's need. As a Medical Spa, we can offer stronger products due to the fact that we have physicians on staff, who supervise our trained aestheticians.
A chemical peel loosens the bond of dead cells on the surface of the skin. By loosening this bond, the peel product applied is able to remove the dead cells from the skin and reveal the new cells underneath. After dead cells are removed, the peel solution stimulates the new skin cells, which start the renewal process.
The light chemical peel softens lines and discoloration, fades dark spots, and helps lessen enlarged pores.

Laser Hair Removal

Highly controlled flashes of light or laser beams are absorbed by the hair follicles lying below the skin. This absorbed light heats the hair thereby damaging the regrowth potential of the follicle. None of the tissue surrounding the hair follicle is damaged in the process. Since hair follicles grow in cycles at different times, several treatments over several months are necessary to get maximum hair removal. This is because a hair follicle can only be damaged when it's in a growth phase.

Hair containing at least some pigment (black, brown, red) can be treated effectively whereas light colored hair (blonde) is not susceptible to laser hair removal.

Laser Vein Removal

Unsightly veins on the face and legs become more common with age. Over 40% of middle-aged women (age 40 to 50) report problems with spider veins. It is nearly impossible to get through life without some sort of a "vascular" lesion. In recent years, a laser has been used to treat these veins. The laser produces light energy at a wavelength, which is selectively absorbed by the hemoglobin, the red pigment in blood cells. This absorption of the laser's energy causes the tiny veins to collapse so they can no longer be seen. The skin may, at times, become discolored in the treatment area, but will return to normal in a week or so. Makeup can be used to camouflage the discoloration.

Candela's Vbeam laser is considered the best laser for eliminating spider veins on the face and legs. We also use the laser to treat birthmarks, hemangiomas and other vascular lesions.

Microdermabrasion (Parisian Peel)

Microdermabrasion is a treatment that allows a jet of fine, natural, mineral crystals to be brushed onto the surface of the skin where it removes dry or dead cell tissue with no trauma.

Microdermabrasion is useful in treating Acne skin, fine lines, Rosacea, blemishes, dry or oily skin, and rough uneven skin.

Depending on what the person is trying to accomplish, the average patient requires a series of treatments determined by the aesthetician after which you can expect to see an improvement in your skin's appearance. Acne scars will be less obvious, age spots and sine lines are minimized and your skin will be softer, smoother and younger looking.

Micropigmentation (Permanent Makeup)

Micropigmentation is an art that has been developed over a period of 30 years. Micropigmentation should not be confused with tattooing. While the principle is the same, the aesthetic result is clearly different.
Even though permanent makeup (eyeliner, eyebrows and lip liner) are most often performed on the busy person on the move, it is extremely beneficial for the older person with unsteady hands or someone who is otherwise physically impaired and may have trouble applying makeup. Individuals with very thin or missing eyebrows and woman following breast reconstruction after cancer surgery are excellent candidates for micropigmentation.

Permanent makeup can correct a lip line imperfection, add natural color to the lips, give more definition to the vermilion border of the lips and, of course, produce eyebrows, eyeliner, and eyelash enhancement that won't rub off.

The most important element in Micropigmentation is choosing the technician. It is extremely important to review the training and skill of this person. Make sure you are given the opportunity to discuss the shape and color before the process begins. Also ensure that you are given after-care instructions and adequate follow-up visits.

Photofacials (Intense Pulse Light)

Intense Pulse Light therapy is a fairly new technology that treats aging skin, discoloration, sun and age spots, fine lines, and broken capillaries. Intense pulses of multiple wavelength light arcs flashed across the face and into the skin. There is no burning sensation. This penetration of light causes the release of precursors of collagen that skin cells then turn into new collagen, thereby tightening and firming the skin.

The Photofacial helps control acne, Rosacea, minimizes fine lines, evens out skin tones, and gives a beautiful glow to the skin. Red and brown spots disappear after Intense Pulse Light treatments.

A series of 4 to 6 treatments at one month intervals are necessary to get maximum improvement in the skin without resorting to a deeper laser or chemical peel procedure. After this series, maintenance treatments once or twice a year will keep the skin looking rejuvenated.

Botox® Cosmetic

Botulinum A Toxin is a medical protein derived from the C. Botulinum bacteria under special laboratory conditions. The toxin, Botox®, is an exciting new cosmetic procedure that can simply, safely and effectively improve forehead creases, frown lines, and crow’s feet. This procedure can have remarkable results in improving wrinkles resulting from hyperactive facial muscles.

When Botox® is injected into a muscle, it causes a temporary freezing of the muscle. The muscle becomes weakened, eliminating part of its function. Long-standing skin creases will soften and may eventually disappear. The result is a softer, more relaxed and pleasant appearance.

Fifteen minutes is all that is needed to perform the procedure with no ill effects afterwards. The treatment consists of several tiny injections into the treated area.

There is no downtime. Patients may return to work immediately and look perfectly normal.

Patients are to refrain from exercise for four hours after the injection. The area where the Botox® was injected should not be massaged for several hours. This prevents any Botox® from spreading to any other area.

Full benefit from the injection may be instant or take 2-3 days to develop. Once the muscle function is impaired, the results will last from 3 to 11 months. Most patients require less frequent injections over time as the muscles weaken from lack of use.

Radiesse®

Radiesse® is also an excellent product for lip augmentation. Radiesse® is injected into the desired area using a very small needle. It lasts approximately 1 to 1.5 years (more than 5 times longer than collagen). Even though the implant material is absorbed, the desired effect may be permanent due to the ingrowth of the body's own tissue into the matrix of Radiesse® that was present. There are no known allergies to Radiesse® as it is an inert material.

Radiesse® is currently available in the U.S. and has been approved by the FDA for use in humans for certain procedures (injections into the voicebox and bladder). Injection into the face is considered "off label" use. (We have used Botox® in a similar "off label" manner for over a decade until 2002, when it was approved by the FDA.) We expect Radiesse® to be approved by the FDA for cosmetic facial use in the future. Injections of Radiesse® can be performed on the same day that a consult is seen in the office. For injection in the lips, a dental block with a local anesthetic may be utilized to make the procedure more comfortable.

Restylane®

Restylane® is injectable wrinkle filler. It is a clear gel made of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that exists in the human body. Since Restylane® is not extracted from animals, there is no risk of allergic reaction or disease transfer. There is no need for pre-testing. Restylane® works together with the body's own hyaluronic acid to create volume at the injection site.

Restylane® is sold in over 60 countries where it has been used in more than one million procedures. The Federal Drug Agency has approved Restylane® for use in the United States.

Restylane® is an effective injectable to erase facial wrinkles and folds or to enhance the lips. The treatment is performed by injecting Restylane® into the skin or lips using an ultra fine needle resulting in minimal discomfort. The procedure takes less than 30 minutes and the results are practically instantaneous. The treatment area can be slightly swollen and red for 12-24 hours.

The length of time Restylane® last is different from individual to individual. It depends on several factors such as the structure of the skin, lifestyle as well as age. However, the majority of patients report the effect lasts up to nine months. Most people choose to have a touch up within 6 months of the original treatmen.
