Total Body Lift

In the last five years, gastric bypass surgery and recently
lap-band surgery for morbid obesity have become popular.
With an estimated 61% of all Americans overweight, people
have sought a surgical solution to obesity.
About the Procedure

Following gastric bypass or lap-band
surgery, patients often lose 50 to 150 pounds. With
this major weight loss, sagging skin on the body appears.
This excess skin usually appears in the abdomen, thighs,
and buttock areas of the body. Sagging skin may also
appear in the face, arms, chest, or breasts.
Because there is such an abundance of
extra skin, exercise will not tone the areas where the
excess skin appears. The goal of a body lift is to remove
this skin and tighten loose areas.
Although there are many variations of
a body lift, the typical "total body lift"
includes a tummy tuck, thigh lift and buttock lift.
While every surgery leaves a scar, the surgeon customizes
the incision to match the patient's needs. Body lifts
are also used to correct sagging skin that appears with
the aging process.
A total body lift is major surgery and
is performed under general anesthesia and usually requires
a two-night stay. A total body lift is one of the more
uncomfortable cosmetic procedures, however, the PainPump®
is used to alleviate much of the pain.
Recovery from a total body lift is two
to three weeks. You may return to work in two weeks
although you may still have some discomfort.
